"Let's Get This (Acton Academy) Party Started!"

Learner Driven education is more than a song lyric! C'mon man

After almost 2 years, Acton Academy North Cincinnati is almost up and running and we have several exciting things to tell you about.

Learner Driven education is planting a flag in north Cincinnati and I cannot be more proud to be a part of it. Having worked in education for the last 20 years, I have seen firsthand how our Learner Driven education model is the answer that so many parents don’t know they are looking for.

Switching schools is a big step, so we’ve been working hard to create ways for families to try Learner Driven education without having to switch schools to do it.

Ways to Participate:

  1. Quest Club (4 different cohorts!)

  2. Children’s Business Fair

  3. Acton Academy North Cincinnati is now accepting enrollment applications (“auditions”) for 1st to 5th grade in the fall of 2025

We’ve also been working hard to create community partnerships and we have a few significant ones to share about:

Community Partnerships:

  1. Warren County Foundation for scholarships

  2. Aberlin Springs for regular farm days

  3. Mason Community Center for Quest Club (session 2 only)

Participate!

1. Quest Club: afterschool enrichment starting in January!

We’re launching our full-time school in the fall, 2025, and to give families a feel for us and our model, we’re starting with “Quest Club,” an after school educational experience.

We’ve chosen to run an abbreviated version of Acton Academy’s proprietary “Entrepreneurship Quest” for Quest Club, which includes a series of lessons and workshops, and will also grant children a table at our 2025 Children’s Business Fair (join the waitlist!).

Quest Club registration is open and our first cohort will start the second half of January.

We’ll run two cohorts at the same time: one is after-school for most children and one after-lunch for homeschool families. We’ll get to offer Quest Club twice before the business fair in May, so children will get experience with scoping various aspects of building a business.

Quest Club is open to children who attend any school. Intention to join Acton is not required!

2. Children’s Business Fair: an annual event for 6-14 year olds!

We held our first annual Children’s Business Fair last May, 2024, and it was a huge success. I got to see firsthand how children respond to building their own business and making their own money. We had 25 vendors register, and around 250 people came through.

For example, one young woman’s enthusiasm at having earned her own money from selling items she had made by herself that I was inspired to take this picture:

We will hold our second annual Children’s Business Fair in May. Location is TBD, though we have several promising leads at the moment.

Registration will be opening in January. Stay tuned!

3. Acton Academy North Cincinnati enrollment audition

What does it look like to enroll with an Acton Academy?

Find out on our brand new website!

The Acton Academy enrollment process, called an audition, begins with a Questionnaire.

Why do you want to join an Acton Academy?

We’re not a school just for going to college. Though the vast majority of our graduates do choose college, we’re a school for living a great adventure.

Imagine instilling a growth mindset, heroic responsibility, and the courage to try again when failure inevitably happens - and learn from it all!

Partnerships!

1. Warren County Foundation for scholarships

The Warren County Foundation is a 501c3 whose purpose is to partner with local community benefit businesses to create and house foundations on their behalf. Our partnership with the Warren County Foundation allows Acton Academy North Cincinnati to receive tax-deductible funds for charitable purposes.

Charitable purposes include tuition and scholarships!

Make a tax-deductible donation to the “Acton Cincy Scholarship Fund” here listed under “Scholarships A-I” and be sure to put, “Acton Cincy Scholarship Fund” in the comment field.

2. Mason Community Center for Quest Club (session 2 only)

Quest Club will have two sections that run two consecutive times, and the cost is $240.

January/February’s Quest Club will be at a large community clubhouse in Landen (specific information upon registration), and March/April’s Quest Club will be at the Mason Community Center!

Learn more about Quest Club here: https://actoncincynorth.com/quest-club

There will be tuition discounts for Mason Community Center members. Stay tuned for more information about session 2!

Lastly, Happy New Year!

2024 has been a huge year of growth and preparing and building the foundation of Acton Academy North Cincinnati. We can’t wait to open our doors in 2025 and continue to inspire and equip the next generation.

If you have any questions about our upcoming programs or how you can help spread the word about this inspiring learning environment, reach out! We are excited to hear from you.
